We Made It

We are finally open in Garden Grove.  Things are going very well and the turnout have been great.

If you are in this area come by and say hello.

I am also working hard trying to get our plans completed for CSULB.  We have already submitted to the health department and hopefully getting close to starting construction.

Good News and Bad

Well,  here we go again.  We did not pass the health inspection.  We have one item and we can open.  I am hoping to have it cleared up by the end of the week.  We will see with Christmas,  if Ican still get it done.

On the brighter side.  We signed a lease for another fresh foods express.  It will be located at CSULB.  It is in the new student recreation and wellness center.  It is scheduled to open in September 2010.

Back again

Sorry it took me so long to post.  Hopefully, you have seen and tasted our new menu.  We lowered the prices on many items.  We did not cut down on the quality on ANY items. We did cut down the portions a little.  That you for all of your feedback, whether in person or on this blog.

The biggest selling new sandwich is the Gaucho, with ROast Beef, blue Cheese & grilled onions.

The new sourdough bread is also very popular.

We are getting close to opening the second location, Fresh Foods Express.  It is located in garden Grove at 12395 Lewis Street.  It is in the Cityview office complex, right next to the Block at Orange.

We are very excited and can’t wait to finally get open.  We have hit some delays but nothing like Long Beach.

Thank you for all of the support.

Update

Hello out there….

We are working on a new menu with lower prices.  We will not be lowering any standards of quality, we will cut down portions, slightly.  I feel it is important to allow more people to be able to afford our lunches regularly.

Hopefully we will have this rolled out in the next 3 weeks or so.

Thank you all for the support.

Please stop in this week for a coffee special.

Budget Saver

We are now into our third month and we are starting to hit our grove.  There are so many components to a restaurant that it is difficult to get them all working smoothly before opening (regardless of how many delays you have).   I think we are ironing out issues and believe we are a much better restaurant now than we were even 2 weeks ago.  It is especially difficult when you need to replace the chef within the first month.  Hopefully, you understand.

Anyway, one comment that has come up is that we are a little too expensive.  I have been struggling with this since before we opened.  Here are my thoughts… We make everything from scratch making our labor much higher than other similar style restaurants.  We also use higher quality products.  While the higher prices are justified from a business sense, it does not make it easier on your wallet.  So here is what we have come up with:  1. A daily soup & half sandwich special at $7.99.  2.  A daily stuffed baked potato special at $4.99.  I am also looking into slicing our bread thinner and putting less meat on our sandwiches.  While I like the larger sandwiches, I think that some people would rather save their wallet size.

I would love to hear your comments on the issue.  Thank you again for your support and patronage.
